What to check when buying a lamp

  • Color temperature: 2700-3000 K warm white for relaxation, 4000-4500 K neutral white for the kitchen and study.
  • Socket: for spotlights, check whether they take a GU10 bulb or have built-in LEDs.
  • Power source: battery, USB, solar, or mains, depending on whether there is a socket nearby.
  • Protection: for outdoor use, choose a lamp with an IP rating that also protects against splashing water.
  • Brightness: look at the lumen value instead of watts; this shows how bright the lamp is.
